The excellence of its performance clearly emerges from the teams’ results and opinions expressed by titled pilots such as Steve Curtis, who emphasized in one of his comments the indispensable and irreplaceable role that Flexitab components had in winning the race:

Smash Poker won the GP of Istanbul

Cigarette Smash Poker won the Grand Prix of Turkey, disputed this weekend in Istanbul’s beautiful Bosphorus waterway. In the first round the boat reached the third place after being penalized by the manoeuvre of two opponent boats which, closing off the way, forced the throttleman Matteo Nicolini to cut off the gas to avoid a dangerous collision.

Throughout the race the drivers had to chase the opponents fighting against the effects of their wakes. The Commissioners of the race, which initially have judged incorrect the behaviour of the boats involved in the action, then decided to not impose any penalty, arousing great disappointment.

Between the first and second rounds, the team has carefully analyzed the telemetry data recorded by Magneti Marelli in order to correct the set up of the boat for the second leg. With a perfect race, leading from the first to the last buoy, with Luca Formilli Fendi that drove precise trajectories and Matteo Nicolini who utilized at best the power of the engines, Cigarette won the Grand Prix of Istanbul 1 minute before the second best.

In the overall standing Smash Poker is now second with 281 points and a detachment of just 28 points from the leaders of the world championship. The next race is scheduled in San Benedetto del Tronto over the July 4th - 5th weekend and the team expects the support of all its fans and sponsors.
